Poofy Goof Rant-O-Matic

as stdio studios moves its location from the main floor to the newly remodeled attic of chez poofygoof, I have been contemplating what work I will soon be able to accomplish. getting creative juices flowing again is not something that can be forced, but having a regular reason for being in the studio and working the controls can help things along.

Northern Soul was popular in the 80s in parts of Britain. the sound was built around out-of-print soul 45s from the US recorded primarily in the 60s, and by definition had a limited repertoire.

an idea I've been rolling around in my head for a number of years has been to write a standalone app (using RTEMS perhaps) that would turn a PC with a soundblaster into a standalone MIDI-driven synthesizer for some FM and low-fi sample action. the combination of the two was used to good effect by the Renaissance demo group for a few of their productions.
