booking passage on a freighterfollowing some branch lines on google maps from the UP railroad yard across from Widmer in N Portland led me to shipping docks. I have been keeping myself amused the last few days pondering rail travel, and seeing satellite pictures of large container ships made me wonder if it was possible to book passage on a container ship across the pacific. apparently it is. the NSB Hanjin Ottawa travels from Portland to Korea and China, among other places. the month-long trip is €2600 euro. that's about enough time to brew a batch of homebrew. I wonder if the captain (and the seas) would allow it? some longer trips go around the world in 100 days. I wonder if any ships have on-board breweries? (: |
