rackmount hardware and accessoriesI'm constantly forgetting where to turn for rackmount accessories. Even the local Fry's has some bits and pieces, but as usual I invariably can't find exactly what I'm looking for. When Patrick sprung the question on me, I dusted off some brain cells, grepped some emails, and re-discovered Markertek, who also sells cable and other pro-audio gear, and MilesTek, who appears to be a little more industrial. also of interest to me are 24 to 19in adapters. apparently 24in is not a common rack width, but 23in is. I need 24in to fit the widest of my alphas, and 24in also comfortably fits three PC tower cases side-by-side without any wasted shelf space. one of these days I'll roll my microVAX-II and its 19in rack under my desk. (there's room.) Zab says Starcase has some nice rackmount kits. Update: 2010-10-01 Racksolutions also has 24-to-19 round-to-square reducers. Structured Cabling Systems has 24-to-19 round-to-round reducers. although I just freed up 6U from my 19" rack due to getting rid of the tape library, it wouldn't hurt to tidy things up in the 24" side as well.
