someone on the NANOG list this week mentioned he worked on the DEC gigaswitch, which tickled my brain about the multiswitch, which I believe is the gigaswitch's predecessor. in the datacenter, I have a few multiswitch modules in use with DECHubs, and I have twisted early-90s visions of collapsing these all down into a single multiswitch. Vnetek has even kept the original part numbers.

this of course begs the question, since the answer to too much hardware should never be more hardware, but boy would it be nifty. I still just need to discover good uses for my obsolete hardware rather than gathering dust and taking up space.
